Version 3.6 Current
August 2026
- Merge captures into one image. Select several screenshots in the history and combine them — each capture arrives as its own group, with its annotations, still movable and editable.
- Object grouping. Ctrl+G groups annotations so they move together, and the object menu now applies to the whole selection: reorder, duplicate, flatten or delete several at once.
- A menu on the area you select. Drag a box in the editor and the actions come to it: copy, copy the text inside it, duplicate, delete, erase its contents — or drop a highlight, blur, rectangle, ellipse, arrow or callout exactly on it. Arrows and callouts land beside the area and point at it, so what you selected stays visible.
Version 3.5
August 2026
- Scrolling capture is now automatic. Pick the region and Screen Slinger scrolls the window itself, shows the stitched image growing live, and stops on its own at the bottom.
- Sticky headers are detected and included only once instead of repeating at every seam, and every seam is verified against the actual pixels before it is accepted.
Version 3.3
August 2026
- Smart capture suggestions. Hovering in the capture overlay highlights the window, panel or table under the cursor — click to capture exactly that; the mouse wheel adjusts how deep the suggestion goes. Free dragging still works as before.
- Nine new tools: a capture timer, the mouse cursor in the shot, a spotlight (rectangle, circle or cloud), a magnifier inset, emoji stickers, a colour picker, a cut-out tool that removes a strip and joins the halves, and background styling with a frame — applied automatically to new captures once you set your style.
Version 3.2
August 2026
- Copy text out of a capture (OCR). Uses the engine built into Windows, so it depends on the OCR language packs installed on the PC — digits are recognised even without a Hebrew pack, which is what the next feature relies on.
- One-click hiding of detected e-mails, phone numbers and long digit sequences, shown as suggestions you confirm — a helper, not a guarantee.
- Hide-templates and fixed regions. Redact a region once and it re-applies to every capture of the same screen, following the on-screen pattern rather than the position; optional automatic hiding on every pasted image.
- Pin to screen. Any capture can float as a small always-on-top window while you work.
- The download grew by about 6 MB — the real cost of the OCR support libraries.
Version 3.1
August 2026
- The product is now called Screen Slinger. Same tool, new name, applied across the app in all four interface languages.
- The download is digitally signed. Windows no longer shows an "Unknown publisher" warning when you run it.
- The installer is served from screenslinger.com itself rather than a separate storage address, so the download link stays stable across releases.
Version 3.0
August 2026
- Dark theme by default. The editor opens dark; the light theme is still there if you prefer it.
- Packaging fix. The published executable is now genuinely self-contained: one file, no loose native libraries beside it, and nothing to install. It is also roughly half the size it used to be.
About the version numbers. Version 3.0 is the first public release under the Screen Slinger name. Earlier builds existed but were never sold, so the notes start there. Work done before 3.0 — the memory budget for the undo stack, thumbnailed capture history, debounced saving and a leaner session-file format — is already in every version listed here.
Every update released for version 3 is included in the licence. If there is ever a version 4, it will be a separate purchase — that is stated on the pricing section and in the licence agreement, and it will not change retroactively.
The current build is always at screenslinger.com/download. There is no automatic updater and no background update service — download the new file and replace the old one; your captures, history and settings are untouched.
